
Elwood P. Dowd is a middle-aged, somewhat eccentric, amiable man whose best friend is a 6′ tall invisible rabbit named “Harvey”. To preserve the family’s reputation, Elwood’s younger sister, Veta, turns to the staff at the local sanitarium to have him committed, yet Veta becomes so hysterical explaining her brother’s condition that she ends up being committed instead.
