Join Opera51 on-line with musicologist Laura Prichard for a fascinating talk on Mozart operas on Sunday, March 7, at 3 p.m. via Zoom. Laura will focus on The Magic Flute and The Marriage of Figaro, weaving in illustrative passages from both sung by Opera51 principals, who are eager to be heard by an audience again!
In the 2017/18 season, these were the third and eighth most often performed operas internationally, and they have earned that honor through enduring qualities that have made them audience favorites for many, many years. Laura’s talks are always favorites with Opera51 audiences. She will bring the operas to life, laying out their structure and flow, placing them in historical context, providing many interesting observations and anecdotes, and providing you a most entertaining and informative experience.
This event is especially timely since Opera51 is setting up concert performances of The Magic Flute at 51 Walden this summer the weekend of August 14-15 (optimistically projecting a stable return to public events by then). This talk will prepare you for that delightful experience!
