The exhibition also provides an extraordinary opportunity to examine the Concord Museum’s renowned Thoreau collection that includes the desk on which Thoreau wrote Walden, together with examples of his original field notes, journal recordings, seasonal charts, and botanical specimens; much of which has never before been exhibited together. Rideout Field in West Concord and Ash Street in ConcordThe morning ceremony assembles at Rideout Field on Laws Brook Rd. at 8:30AM and proceeds to Kenneth Dunn Square for the flag raising and brief ceremony at 9AM.At 11:30AM, the parade re-assembles at Garrison/Ash Street for the afternoon ceremonies. The parade proceeds first to St. Bernard’s and Sleepy Hollow Cemeteries. There is a short ceremony at each location. The parade will pause at the Knoll at Sleepy Hollow to acknowledge Veterans buried there. The Parade then continues to Monument Square for the reading of the Roll of Honor at approximately 1:15PM.Strata: Meaning Between the Lines: Jim McManus + Holly Harrison

Town of Concord - Emerson Field at Everett Street
All are invited for the festivities that include all day music, food tables, and activities for all ages. Tethered balloon rides begin at 10am; the decorated bicycle parade takes place at 11:30am (children gather at 11:15am). Celtic and Cape Breton Music by Annalivia (11:45am-1:00pm); bluegrass music by Southern Rail (1:30pm - 3:00pm); concert music by the Concord Band (3:15pm - 4:30pm).Activities for families will include field games (12:30 – 1:30), balloon twisting (1:00 – 3:00), the popular Fire Department 911 House, the Police Department radar toss, a demonstration by Concord’s K-9 police officer, Officer Sylvia Toumayan and her dog Charik (1:00 –1:30), juggling by Peter Panic Juggler (2:00 – 3:00) and, for teens, a henna artist will make temporary tattoos. In case of rain, the music will be moved indoors.

Also included in this year's program will be a performance of Charles Ives' Concord Sonata in four movements: Emerson, Hawthorne, Alcotts and Thoreau, with highly acclaimed musicians Leslie Amper, Randy Hodgkinson, and special guest, Robert Honeysucker, who will sing Thoreau's favorite ballad, Tom Bowling.
